About Us

THE OLD RANGOON

Owners Chip & Mac Ramsay's years of living in Asia have enabled them to  search and select exclusively designed art, accessories, and gifts for their stores.  Items such as designer silk jackets, shawls, table runners, and wall hangings along with handbags, jewelry, home furnishings, ceramics, lacquer ware, and unique furniture and art pieces from all over Southeast Asia are available for purchase.

In 2006, Mac Ramsay, because of her dedication to the promotion and enhancement of the Southeast Asia silk weaving industry, was selected by the California-Asia Business Council to donate the beautiful textile framed as the "New Silk Road Award" which is given annually.  Mrs. Ramsay chose a fine silk weaving from the studios of Lao Textiles in Vientiane, Laos. The award was presented to the Honorable Senator Dianne Feinstein of California for her outstanding contributions to California-Asia friendship.

The Old Rangoon is recognized by artisans throughout Southeast Asia for the Ramsays' ability to identify unique cultural and ethnic pieces available from each of these countries.

The products of Lao Textiles by Carol Cassidy in Vientiane, Laos are available in the Southeastern United States exclusively through The Old Rangoon.
